Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Associate (SRA) to support the Genomics Platform lead within the Cell Engineering team, where they will have a key role performing next generation sequencing (NGS) workflows. Priorities include developing methods to evaluate on/off target editing outcomes using Cas-based editors and single cell transcriptomic profiles through various stages of cellular differentiation.
The ideal candidate should be a meticulous, accurate and detail-oriented individual, who has a keen interest in sequencing technologies and is committed to documenting every detail of the research process. The candidate should be capable of following strict protocols precisely and will be expected to contribute in a fast-paced research environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and QC NGS libraries according to established protocols under the mentorship of the Genomics Platform team lead
- Pool indexed libraries and load samples onto Illumina MiSeq
- Maintain NGS equipment and supplies in a highly organized laboratory environment
- Manage shipment of samples to external CROs
- Document every detail of the research process accurately and thoroughly
- Organize NGS run information in a company registry
- Communicate experimental results effectively to the team lead and other team members
- Collaborate with other team members to troubleshoot experiments and optimize protocols
Qualifications
- Minimum BS in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or relevant discipline and 2+ years of experience
- In-depth experience with molecular biology techniques (extraction, purification, and quantification of nucleic acids; PCR, qPCR, ddPCR)
- Experience working in an industrial laboratory setting is highly preferred
- Experience with NGS methods (short and long read sequencing, magnetic beads purification) is a plus
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
